The Coeur d’Alene Viking Boat Races Organization is a “non-profit organization”, who’s purpose is community service and education.
The Viking Boat Races Vision is to bring the traditional rowing sport of “Viking Boat Racing”, “Church Boat Racing” to Lake Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and the greater Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls area. Church boats (kirkkovene), are a 12 meter, 15 person team rowing craft. The Viking Boat Races will be community oriented activities provided as “fund raisers” for charitable purposes and to support tourism in the North Idaho Panhandle and Eastern Washington area.
The Coeur d’Alene Viking Boat Racing Organization will provide several annual rowing events, the racing activities will be of all skill levels. The Viking Boat Races will not only be races, but will also provide cultural and spectator opportunities. The community activities surrounding these events are intended to enhance tourism while being environmentally friendly to the lake and our community. An expansion in tourism can occur by creating a broad age range of activities for guests and the people in our community while simultaneously supporting our charity.
The racing activities will be called the “The Viking Boat Races to Cure Diabetes” and the proceeds from these activities will provide support programs for research and support programs for children with Type 1 Diabetes. The direct beneficiaries from net proceeds of this organization will be juvenile diabetes research, and the families and children diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.
The races will provide individuals, businesses, and organizations an opportunity to enjoy a great day at the lake, while making a valuable contribution to the youth, families and businesses of our community. We encourage everyone to get involved, challenge their group, business or organization to start a team. Your participation will support the Coeur d’Alene business community and the families with children diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.
